A Case of Hodgkin’s Disease with Initial Presentation of the Bone Involvement

|
Bony involvement in Hodgkin’s disease is rare and was reported to be about 10∼
34% of all Hodgkin’s disease during it’s course, and cases whose initial presenting
manifestation were bone involvement were much more rare (reported to be 1.3% of al1
cases). The clinical significance of this bony involvement is controversial.
Describe here a case of Hodgkin’s disease with initial presentation of the bone
involvement: The patient was 17 year old boy with involvement of T6, L3, L5 spines,
left hip joint and right 7th rib which could be detected by 99mTc whole
body bone scan and bone C-T scan. The histologic type was Hodgkin’s disease,
lymphscytic depletion, proved by open biopsy from L5 body. The megavoltage radiation
therapy and chemotherapy were performed with temporary symptomatic relief.
